Offering both a front-facing supercardioid mic capsule and a rear-facing cardioid capsule, the Saramonic Vmic4 is a compact, lightweight camera-mount shotgun microphone that can effectively pick up audio from on-camera talent and the camera operator at the same time. This clever, dual-mic system is especially well suited to content creators making interview videos and documentaries where they interact with the on-camera subject from behind the camera.

The mic offers three settings, allowing you to tailor the way it captures audio to meet your specific needs. The On setting engages only the front facing mic, while Multi engages both the front and rear mics and also a 3.5mm external mic input with plug-in power—useful if you’d like to add a lav or wireless mic to the mix. The Off setting allows you to save battery life between takes. Onboard controls provide level adjustment and a high-pass filter option, and there’s a 3.5mm jack for convenient headphone monitoring. The integrated shoemount with a 1/4″-20 thread on the bottom allows for easy attachment to a camera shoe or tripod, and a coiled TRS cable is supplied for orderly wiring between the mic’s 3.5mm output jack and your camera or portable recorder’s input jack for audio recording. A 3.5mm TRRS cable is also supplied for connection to smartphones and tablets.

By operating on a AAA battery (available separately), the Vmic4 is able to work with cameras that don’t supply plug-in power or phantom power. Plus, you can just swap batteries and skip the time needed to recharge internal batteries. The rear of the mic features onboard controls for the 3-stage gain adjustment and high-pass filter—helpful functions that let you optimize the signal quality at the mic instead of during postproduction. The Vmic4 comes with a furry windscreen which reduces wind noise on outdoor shoots.

Versatile On-Camera Microphone with Flexible Sonic Controls

The Vmic4 features two capsules, a forward-facing supercardioid shotgun capsule and a rear-facing cardioid capsule, making it easy to capture sound in front of the mic like a traditional shotgun microphone, but also from the front and rear simultaneously for on-camera interviews and behind the camera vlogging. It features a selectable 3-stage gain control with a +10 dB boost setting for ultra-clean gain on cameras with noisy preamps, a 0 dB setting for high-quality preamps, and a -10 dB pad for cleanly capturing loud sounds without distortion. It also features a 200 Hz high-pass filter to eliminate low-frequency noise that can ruin a recording.

External 3.5mm Microphone Input, Headphone Output, with TRS and TRRS Output Cables

The Vmic4 features a 3.5mm mic input with plug-in power, allowing you to mix in a second mic into your camera or mobile device. Perfect for adding a wireless system, wired lavalier, or similar mic without needing a mixer. A 3.5mm headphone output is also supplied, letting you monitor your sound in real time, a vital feature if your camera or mobile device lacks a headphone out. The mic also features a 3.5mm output and includes both TRS and TRRS output cables, for out-of-the-box compatibility with cameras, smartphones, tablets, and much more. Easily pair with a Lightning or USB-C to 3.5mm TRRS adapter (not included) for mobile devices with no 3.5mm input.

External Shoe Mount with Furry Windshield and Custom-Molded Protective Case Included

The Vmic4 features a redundant shoe mount on top of the mic, perfect for mounting LED lights, wireless mic receivers and other accessories. It includes a furry windshield for filming outdoors and in high wind conditions that blocks the wind from the front- and rear-facing capsules, while still providing access to the controls and shoe mount. Also included is a zippered protective case with a molded mic compartment and mesh pocket to keep the mic and all the accessories safe when traveling or in storage.
